MYLAPS ProChip technology captures the performance of German cyclists

Discover the successful first year of the partnership between Datasport Germany and the German Cycling Federation, the Bund Deutscher Radfahrer (BDR), and how the utilization of MYLAPS ProChip technology contributed to a seamless season of timing.

Successful first season of long-term partnership

The partnership between Datasport Germany GmbH and the BDR was formed in April 2023, with the aim of both sides wanting to develop new ideas together and introduce innovative technical implementations in the world of cycling. By joining forces, they ensured a smooth results service for the “Müller – Die lila Logistik Rad-Bundesliga”. With the help of MYLAPS ProChip technology, the organizations have realized their goal of making the timekeeping a seamless process.

BDR Vice President Günter Schabel, who is responsible for the Cycling Bundesliga, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership "We are excited to work with Datasport Germany and happy to have access to all the results directly after the races.”

Utilizing MYLAPS ProChip Technology

A key factor that contributes to the success of the partnership is the utilization of MYLAPS ProChip technology. This cutting-edge timing system is the standard for high-speed sports with an accuracy up to 0.003 seconds. It can handle speeds of up to 75 km/h (46.6 mph) which is invaluable at professional cycling races. The beating heart of the system, the ProChip Smart Decoder, is the smallest and lightest timing decoder in the industry. 

With the support of the ProChip system Datasport Germany and the BDR are able to determine even the closest finishes without any concerns about equipment failures. The timing system works with battery-powered timing chips, decoder, detection loop and timing software. The ProChip technology makes the timeline setup easier and quicker than ever.

Partnership between MYLAPS and Datasport

In 2021, MYLAPS and Datasport began a long-term partnership to offer best-in-class digital sports experiences to event organizers and their participants and fans.
